Bundesliga: Heiko Butscher takes over as head coach at Bochum again

After the dismissal of Bochum coach Thomas Letsch, the club agreed on an internal solution. The management announced that the previous U19 coach Heiko Butscher will be in charge as an interim solution for the rest of the season. Butscher is supported in his new role by assistant coaches Markus Gellhaus and Frank Heinemann.

Previously, among others, the former U21 national coach and Bochum player Stefan Kuntz and Peter Stöger, former coach of Cologne and Dortmund, were traded. However, Stöger had previously turned down the club.

This is Butscher’s fourth job as interim coach at VfL Bochum. He was briefly head coach of the Bundesliga team in 2018 and 2019. He last took over team management in September 2022 before Letsch became the new coach.
