After the break, the game was similar to before: Bayer combined through the ranks, Union often tried in vain to prevent this. With some good chances for Leverkusen, Union was lucky that goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow prevented further goals.

With 76 points, 16 points ahead of second-placed Bayern, a win against Werder Bremen next week can make the Werkself champions. If Bayern loses against FC Cologne, Leverkusen will definitely be champions. If Bayern draws against Cologne, Leverkusen will only need one point in the game against Bremen for the title.

SC Freiburg – RB Leipzig 1:4 (0:3)

Freiburg also couldn’t use a hand penalty awarded after a VAR check to connect, Lucas Höler missed from the spot (41′). Instead, Openda made it 3-0 at halftime (45th).

At the start of the second half, two player changes brought new momentum to Freiburg. Nevertheless, Leipzig scored instead. This time Openda prepared, Benjamin Šeško (54th) converted. Just five minutes later, Freiburg scored a consolation goal through Vincenzo Grifo (59′).

Cologne had everything under control except for a few moments. Bochum only became dangerous in the first half after a corner. It became increasingly heated and the duels were intense.

In the second half, FC got off to a better start again, but the goal came from the other side. Felix Passlack’s (53rd) shot deflected into the goal. New players came for Cologne, the FC fought against the defeat with a lot of effort – and was still rewarded. FSV Mainz 05 continues its race to catch up in the bottom sixth of the table and wins 4-0 (1-0) against Darmstadt 98. The guests, on the other hand, suffered what was probably the decisive blow in the relegation battle.

In a lively first half, Andreas Hanche-Olsen (32nd) scored for Mainz to take the lead from a free kick. Darmstadt changed its system in the second half and made two substitutions. Although the bottom of the table made an effort, there were no compelling opportunities. Mainz acted cleverly defensively – and followed up after a mistake by the Darmstadt defense by Brajan Gruda (60th). Finally, Jae-Sung Lee (80th, 84th) made the final score with a brace.

Despite Cologne’s win against Bochum, Mainz avoided slipping to 17th place and is now one point ahead of FC in the relegation place with 23 points. Darmstadt is still in last place in the table with 14 points.
