Brno Victorious in Duel of Struggling Teams, Nostalgic Draw for Zbrojovka

So that a few days later they get a point for an even luckier draw from Drnovice against the favored Vyškov. The set date for the change of the majority owner of the club is approaching.

The duel between the struggling teams came out victorious for Brno

In Wednesday’s game, the two teams with the worst spring balance of points gain faced each other. Until then, both teams had won just two points from six matches. Despite the unflattering streak, Jihlava came to South Moravia confident with a plan to export all points to the Highlands. Bad results have taken their toll on Brno so far. The sacked coach Polách was replaced by the former coach of the B team, the likeable Lukáš Kříž, who made his debut as the head of the bench with the A-team.

The match itself offered several interesting moments on both sides. However, the guests created more goals, but they failed to the guardian of the Brno shrine Dominik Sváček, who was loaned to Brno from Pilsen. In the end, Brno were the happier team when Roman Potočný sent Denis Granečný on the run a few minutes before the end, who sent his team into the lead with a shot against the post. The celebration of the players showed how important the goal was for the moment. It was unusually so spectacular that it resembled a celebration of a goal advancing to the Champions League. However, one cannot be surprised. Precisely these moments tend to be a huge boost for a struggling team.

The score did not change until the final whistle and Brno broke through the result crisis. The hero of the match was undoubtedly Granečný, the scorer of the winning goal. However, goalkeeper Sváček also deserves a big discharge, who kept the team together with unprecedented high-level saves.

A reminder of nostalgia from Drnovice with a lucky draw for Zbrojovka

In front of the TV cameras of the Czech Television, the battle for South Moravia of the second Vyškov took place unusually in the morning with the encouraged Zbrojovka. A significant part of the fans of both teams still remembered how tense fights between the local club and Zbrojovce took place at the Drnovice Stadium in the 1990s, which were always supported by a great crowd.

The game itself offered a higher tempo set by Vyškova, to which Zbrojováci adapted over time. The White Ballet clearly had more of the game throughout the duel. He created a sufficient number of scoring chances towards the front. However, the quality of the ending faltered. Vyškov was given a helping hand by Brno defender Foster Gyamfi, who unusually alternated bright moments with absolute fiascos at the position of stopper. He saved the biggest fiasco for the 71st minute, when in the position of the last player, he fumbled the balloon, which was given to him by Issa Fomba. After this theft, the latter raced alone to the goal and shot past the goalkeeper Sváček, thus sending Vyškov to the tightest lead. A few minutes later, Gyamfi gave the home team one more goal, which fortunately was not punished. Coach Kříž eventually freed the Ghanaian from a bad match by substituting him.

This was followed by the only chance in the match served by the red and whites. Denis Granečný stretched with the ball into the goal, where he served it to Alijagic on a golden tray. The promising striker took advantage of a great pass from a teammate without hesitation and netted the equalizing goal. He thus decided on the final distribution of points with the result 1:1.

Throughout the match, Zbrojovce lacked the creativity needed to create scoring chances. The player who would challenge his teammates in the final or pre-final phase to take a shooting position was unfortunately not in the red jersey on the pitch for Brno. It will probably be difficult to find him even in the entire playing staff.

An important sale date on the horizon

A key milestone in the direction of the club in the following years is dated April 26. On this day, according to official sources, the transfer of the ownership structure should be completed. Brno fans are waiting for this date like a mercy. However, some are also worried that something will eventually go wrong again like in February, when this sale was originally supposed to be finalized. Sports director Zdeněk Psotka spoke about the deadline of April 28 in the last interview for ČT, but the difference of two days should be the least of problems. Let’s believe together that on this day a new era will finally begin, which will certainly be better than the previous one under the full leadership of Václav Bartoňek.
