Brandon Ingram Progressing Towards Return, But Time Running Out for Pelicans Playoff Hopes

On the sidelines since March 21 after a defeat against Orlando, Brandon Ingram is progressing and is still aiming for a return before a potential Play-In or a first series of Playoffs… But time is running out and the franchise has not communicated any date.

Brandon Ingram, victim of a bone contusion linked to hyperextension of the knee, had avoided too big an injury. NOLA hoped to recover it before the end of the regular season in order to put itself in the best conditions to avoid the Play-In Tournament. But the winger is once again announced unavailable this evening against Portland, with only 6 days left before the season ends.

Since this injury, the Pelicans have suffered five defeats in nine games, with a below-average offensive rating. They are currently 7th in a Western conference denser than the Jungle biome on Minecraft

Brandon Ingram (knee) is out and Naji Marshall (shoulder) is doubtful for tomorrow’s game at Portland.

Zion Williamson and Jose Alvarado are no longer listed on the injury report.

If Ingram is still listed OUT, he would have started training with contact in line with his physical progression.

The week will be crucial and will determine the atmosphere of the postseason in Louisiana. Sixth and ninth place are possible depending on their results, while NOLA still has to face the Blazers, Kings, Warriors and Lakers. Lots of direct opponents in their line of sight, little margin for error.

Without their second best scorer this season (20.9 points per game at 49% shooting), the Pelicans will have to find the resources to hang on. Brandon Ingram will most likely be far from his top form even if he returns at the end of the week.
