The Boston Celtics made a piece of NBA history in their 104-91 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum on Tuesday night.
The Celtics didn’t attempt a single free throw the entire game. All ten Boston players who were on the floor – from star Jayson Tatum in 37 minutes to reserve Svi Mykhailiuk in seven minutes – did not make a single shot from the free throw line.

“Another day in the NBA,” Tatum said after the game when asked about the Celtics’ strange performance. “Maybe it’s about getting ready for the playoffs and so letting a lot of things slide. I think it’s about getting ready for the playoffs.”
NBA: Giannis Antetokounmpo injured
Additionally, the Bucks hit just two free throws – both from superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in the first quarter before he left the game with a calf injury – adding to the strange record night. Boston and Milwaukee’s two combined free throw attempts are the lowest number in a game in NBA history.
A total of twelve fouls were committed in this game, eight by the Celtics and four by the Bucks. Celtics guard Jaylen Brown (three) and Bucks forward Khris Middleton (two) were the only two players to receive multiple personal fouls.
