Boris Becker: the ex-tennis star reached an agreement with the English courts to escape bankruptcy

Boris Becker is done with his bankruptcy problems. The former German tennis champion, on trial for bankruptcy for more than two years, has reached an agreement to escape personal bankruptcy.

British justice has decided to close the proceedings against him following an agreement with his judicial administrators, his lawyer announced Thursday. The insolvency proceedings opened against the former world number one in 2017 were “legally closed” by a decision rendered on Wednesday by the High Court in London following this agreement. This also cancels its liability for the residual debts still existing, indicated its lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser in a press release.

The six-time Grand Slam tournament winner spent eight months in prison in 2022 in the United Kingdom for these facts.

Declared personal bankruptcy in June 2017 in London, “Boum Boum” Becker, 54, was accused of not having respected his obligations to disclose information, particularly banking information, which he disputes. He was notably accused of not having handed over to his creditors nine trophies and medals from his illustrious record on the professional circuit.
