The news
First quarter
Lundberg, Abass, Hackett, Polonara Zizic take the field for Bologna, while Weber, Galloway, Vitali, Chillo and Faye take to the field for Reggio. It starts at a slow pace in which the two teams proceed arm in arm, without finding the heavy shot and with the big men reigning supreme. Small extension by the red and whites to 11-7, followed by a back and forth from the arc with Lundberg and Weber. The first changes begin with Priftis who has already rotated ten players. The home team took advantage of Reggio’s decline to move ahead and the quarter ended at 26-23, thanks to the not-so-brilliant defences, especially that of Reggio.
Second quarter
It resumes with one turnover on each side before Chillo and Mickey’s baskets. A banal turnover by Vitali gives Virtus a breather and they find the back of the net with Shengelia from the line to which Vitali responds from the arc for 65-58 at the last mini-interval.
Fourth bedroom
Back and forth between Chillo and Shengelia, then Weber returns for a tired Uglietti. Unahotels wastes three opportunities to get even closer to their opponents who, being the experts they are, take advantage of the opportunity to regain a double-digit lead, thanks to Shengelia who is unable to mark at this stage. Hackett’s fourth foul forces Banchi to switch it with Lundberg. The match continues without major upheavals on both sides, with Bologna simply controlling the match. In the middle of the quarter both teams are in the bonus and the impression is that there will be no big surprises in the final minutes.
