Bilal El Khannouss: Rising Star at KRC Genk Seeks Revenge on Former Club Anderlecht

Bilal El Khannouss has become one of KRC Genk’s most important players. The young Moroccan takes his revenge on his former club, RSC Anderlecht.

The evolution of Bilal El Khannouss is impressive. At only 19 years old, he is an indisputable starter at KRC Genk. This season, he is undoubtedly one of the best in the Limburg squad.

The Moroccan international (already 12 caps) wants to end the season like a cannonball and is hoping for a nice transfer this summer. RB Leipzig in particular is interested in his profile.

Bilal El Khannouss looks back on his time at Anderlecht

In an interview given to the Dutch-speaking media Bruzz, El Khannouss looked back on his time at RSC Anderlecht. He played from 2009 to 2019 in the youth teams of the Brussels club, before joining Genk.

“We have already talked about it a lot, but honestly, I had very good times at Anderlecht. But at 15, I had to make a choice. I no longer had confidence in Anderlecht. The future project of Genk, on the other hand, could convince me. In my opinion, they didn’t see my departure coming. This change was not easy.”

“I suddenly had to go to a boarding school, alone, a hundred kilometers from home, but it made me stronger. For me and my family, it was obviously very difficult at first. Fortunately, I knew a few guys in the youth teams of Genk and I was well supervised. I am very happy that my childhood friend Anouar (Ait El Hadj) is also part of the team.”
