In approximately three weeks, Vincent Collet should unveil the list of players selected to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A list in which Bilal Coulibaly will be found? Nothing is assured for Victor Wembanyama’s friend, but Bilal delivered a rookie campaign convincing enough to be in Collet’s little papers. And as you can imagine, Coulibaly dreams big.
“I really hope to be in the team,” Bilal said on NBAextra. “That would be really impressive. I remember watching the Olympics with my family at home. So yeah, the Games would be magical.”

Injured wrist at the end of the season but avoiding surgery and “soon back at 100%”, Bilal Coulibaly adds that he had the opportunity to meet Vincent Collet a few weeks ago, when the coach visited in the States to meet the different French NBA players. A meeting without promises but a meeting which proves that Bilal has his chance.
As a reminder, Coulibaly played under the orders of Vincent just before arriving in the NBA, with the Mets 92 alongside Mister Victor Wembanyama. The opportunity for Bilal to give him an overview of his defensive qualities and his versatility, assets appreciated on the outside positions. At only 19 years old and without any selection for the France A team, Bilal Coulibaly does not have the experience that other candidates for the blue group may have. On the other hand, he has the talent, intelligence, and carefreeness of youth.
It remains to be seen if it will be enough to land a place in the 12.
