The Bayern women continue to march alone at the top. At halftime, Munich are surprisingly behind against bottom team MSV Duisburg. After the break, however, Bayern showed their true colors.
After FC Bayern’s men were unable to defend their Bundesliga title, at least the Munich women’s footballers are still on course to mastery. Coach Alexander Straus’ team won 5:1 (0:1) at MSV Duisburg.
Bayern turns up the heat after the break
Giulia Gwinn (49′), Georgia Stanway (52′), Magdalena Eriksson (63′), Jovana Damnjanovic (87′) and Sydney Lohmann (89′) turned the game around against the bottom team after the break. MSV surprisingly took the lead through Taryn Ries (42nd). This means that the Munich team at the top of the table maintained their seven-point lead over VfL Wolfsburg on the 18th of 22 match days and remain unbeaten.
Last year’s runner-up won 4-1 (3-0) at SC Freiburg on Saturday and made everything clear before the break. Lena Oberdorf (24th) and Ewa Pajor (27th/31st) ensured a reassuring lead after 45 minutes. After the break, Eileen Campbell (59′) reduced the deficit for the hosts before Riola Xhemaili (62′) scored Wolfsburg’s fourth goal. (dpa/ska)
