Bayern Munich has reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since their triumph in 2020. After the 2-2 draw in the first leg on Wednesday, the German record champions won 1-0 against Arsenal in the quarter-final second leg at the Football Arena in Munich. Joshua Kimmich scored the golden goal for Bayern with a header in the 63rd minute. In the semi-finals, Bayern will now face Real Madrid, who beat Man City on penalties.

“Outstanding. The second half in particular was very good. We could have scored one or two more goals and were more determined. The bottom line is that we deserve to go through,” said goalscorer Kimmich at DAZN and added: “We are happy that we are finally in the semi-finals again.” With his goal, he was lucky that “no one really took responsibility for me felt”.
In Munich there was a stalemate for long stretches of the first half. Bayern largely had the game under control, extended their lead over time and thus preserved their last remaining chance of winning the title this season.

The Munich team also caused cheers in the Red Bull Salzburg camp. As a result of Arsenal’s elimination, Austria’s series champion is guaranteed to take part in the 2025 Club World Cup in the USA and can look forward to an entry fee of around 50 million euros.
