Bayer Leverkusen’s official championship celebration will take place on May 26th. According to information from the German Press Agency, the big party with the championship trophy and possible other trophies will then take place in the BayArena.
The evening before, Bayer 04 played the DFB Cup final in Berlin against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The game on Saturday evening is synonymous with the last of three possible title chances for the factory club this season.
The Europa League title also beckons
The Europa League final takes place in Dublin three days before the cup final. Leverkusen is in the quarter-finals of the competition and, after a 2-0 win in the first leg, will go into the second leg against West Ham United this Thursday as favorites (on April 18th from 9 p.m. live in the audio stream and live ticker on the Sportschau).
Coach Xabi Alonso’s team will receive the championship trophy after matchday 34. On May 18th, Bayer 04 will host FC Augsburg at their home stadium at the end of the Bundesliga season. Afterwards, the managing directors of the German Football League (DFL), Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel, want to present the team with the championship trophy.
Leverkusen completed the first German championship in the club’s history with a 5-0 win against Werder Bremen on Sunday.
