Bayern Munich slipped badly in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and came away empty-handed for the first time in six weeks. After five wins in a row, the cup winners lost in Mannheim’s SAP Arena on Sunday afternoon, completely unexpectedly, against relegation candidates MLP Academics Heidelberg 82:89 (44:42), the hosts had moved to the large arena for the special game. 9796 spectators witnessed the Academics’ coup.

The defending champions celebrated their 20th win in their 29th game of the season.
