The Niners Chemnitz achieved a historic success. In the hot atmosphere of Istanbul, the Saxons held their nerve and secured the first European Cup win in the club’s history. But the Saxons had to go into extra time.

Istanbul pulls away in the second quarter

But Bahcesehir was not yet beaten and suddenly pulled away to 91:84. And with 38 seconds left, the overall lead dwindled to just two points at 93:84. Suddenly the Niners’ knees wobbled, Istanbul made it 95:84. It went into overtime. And there the hosts initially pulled away. But the Niners proved to be tough and, with a bit of luck, secured the pot by the narrowest of margins.
