Arc Club of Nîmes Dominates French Division 1 Championship Opener in Riom

The men’s and women’s teams of the Arc club of Nîmes were successful last weekend in Riom, during the first round of the French Division 1 championship, and they took the lead in the ranking.

The objective of the Arc club of Nîmes, the weekend of April 13 and 14 in Riom (Puy-de-Dôme), during the first day of the French D1 championship, was to win, for both men and for the ladies, six of the seven matches on the program. Contract more than fulfilled since the two teams achieved a flawless performance (7 victories).

The women have largely mastered their subject

Among the women, Victoria Sebastian, Maia Tincu, Anaëlle Florent, Erika Jangnas, mastered their subject quite largely even against Arcis-sur-Aube, the reigning champion, and Tours-Saint-Avertin, two matches announced as “difficult” and won 6-0.

The Nîmoises similarly defeated Agen Boé (6-0), Issy-les-Moulineaux (5-1), Marseille (6-2), Annemasse (6-2) and Belfort (6-0).

A complicated introduction for boys

For the boys, Baptiste Addis, Iban Bariteaud, Franck Eyeni and Thomas Aubert had a difficult start, winning the first match against Beuvardes narrowly, after a shootout (5-4). The rest was more favorable with six matches much better managed and won in front of Nanteuil-le-Haudouin (5-1), Riom (5-1), Mouans-Sartoux (5-3), Annemasse (6-2), Brienon -sur-Armançon (6-2) and Draveil Sénart (5-1).

In the general classification, Nîmes is therefore positioned as leader in both divisions. Important with a view to qualifying for the semi-finals because during the next round (8 matches on the program), at Smarves (Vienna), the weekend of May 4 and 5, the Nîmes will be deprived of their internationals who will participate in the European Championship in Essen (Germany).
