In a day full of emotions, the Antioquia women’s junior basketball team became the first qualifier in the department for the national final of the Intercollegiate Games, after achieving an outstanding victory over Caldas with a score of 66-38. This meeting, held in the coliseum in the Cuba neighborhood of Pereira, demonstrated the skill and commitment of the Antioquian women. These worthy Paisa representatives, students of the Jorge Alberto Gómez Gómez Educational Institution of the municipality of Granada, raised the name of Antioquia with their dedication and talent.
Saturday also brought more reasons to dream: the Antioquia women’s junior futsal team won with authority against Caldas, with a resounding 6-0, in the coliseum of the Instituto Técnico Superior. This victory, the second in a row, brings the Antioquians closer to qualifying for the national phase, adding six points in the home run table.
In men’s soccer, the Antioquian juniors showed their strength by beating Caldas 4-2 at the Mora Mora stadium, equaling Quindío with six points. The confrontation between Antioquia and Quindío will be decisive, which will be played on Sunday the 7th, at 8:00 am
The day also featured the victory of the junior women’s volleyball team, which beat Caldas with scores of 25-12 and 25-13, in a display of technique and forcefulness.
Despite facing defeats in men’s indoor soccer (4-5 with Caldas) and in men’s basketball (46-73 also with Caldas), Antioquia’s fighting spirit and determination remain intact.
Sunday’s day promises to be key in defining the qualifiers in the competing sports. Antioquia will face decisive games in men’s soccer, women’s and men’s indoor soccer, and men’s volleyball. Expectations are high and the spirit of the Antioqueños is unbeatable. The national final of the Intercollegiate Games is scheduled to be held between April 16 and 28, in Bogotá and Valledupar.
