Romano confirms: 60 million man will leave Man United through the back door

Anthony Martial is really going to turn his back on Manchester United after eight seasons. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano wrote on Monday that there is no doubt that the attacker will leave next summer. Martial leaves as a reserve, and with a market value drop of no less than sixty percent. United paid gold in 2015 for the then top talent.
Expectations were high in September 2015. Then Man United – with Louis van Gaal as manager – decided to transfer sixty million to AS Monaco for the then nineteen-year-old Martial.

The Frenchman started reasonably well at Old Trafford. In his debut season he became the club’s top scorer and was elected Golden Boy.
From season two onwards, however, things have been trial and error for Martial. He has been plagued by injuries, and if not, his form will be a problem.
Martial had one more top season – the 2019/20 season – but is slipping further and further. This season, the right leg only played thirteen official matches and scored one goal, partly due to a groin injury.
Nevertheless, Erik ten Hag still wanted to discuss a contract extension. Martial showed hints of his class at times last season. Now Romano is definitively putting to rest rumors about a longer stay. “Martial will leave Man United at the end of the season. No doubts,” said the transfer market guru on X.
Martial still has to make his choice for a follow-up club. In any case, Fenerbahçe, Inter and West Ham United are said to be interested. The question is how much Martial wants in salary. The French international currently earns around 150,000 pounds (176,000 euros) per week.
Martial could have already played his last match. He is recovering from a groin injury, which has kept him sidelined since the end of January. Since 2015, Martial has made 317 official appearances for Manchester United. He was accurate ninety times and recorded 48 assists. Martial’s market value fell from 25 to 10 million euros during that time. At his peak (January 2018), Transfermarkt valued him at 65 million.
