“I am a Racing fan. When he was a soccer player he couldn’t say it,” he said in a radio interview with the program How are you doing. In dialogue with ESPN, he went deeper: “Today I can speak a little more openly, you saw that in football you say ‘I’m a fan of so-and-so’ and now the whole world is on top of you. This will be the first time I say it: if it were for my uncle or my grandfather and my old man, they would have liked me to play in Racing. “They would have liked it a lot.”

“When I was little I went to the field, obviously, my old man took me to see Rubén Paz. Rubén was a player that my dad always showed me, he told me ‘look how that left-handed player plays, look where he stands on the court, how he moves,’” he continued.

When asked if he was ever close to arriving at the Avellaneda institution, he said: “Diego Milito, with whom I have a friendship, called me at the time and we have talked several times but nothing concrete was ever given, but he knew “Perfectly everything that Racing represented in my life.”

In any case, he highlighted River’s place in his life: “What happened to me when I played against Racing? I wanted to beat him, always. I was born in River, I grew up in River, I went to school in River, so with that you lose it. My wife and my brother are from River. From Boca… no, from Boca we don’t have anyone in the family.”
