André Villas-Boas Elected President of FC Porto with Record Voter Turnout

After the counting of the 44 ballot boxes, André Villas-Boas, aged 46, is at the head of the three candidates and is notably ahead of Pinto da Costa (86 years old), president of the club since 1982. The former Marseille coach therefore becomes the new president of FC Porto.

At AVB’s campaign headquarters, the atmosphere was festive this Saturday evening and the latter planned to go to the Dragon Stadium in the night to celebrate the event. More than 26,000 FC Porto members came to vote, a record participation (the previous one was around 10,700 voters in 1988).

The counting began at more than 10 p.m. (French time) under the surveillance of the police, who came at the request of supporters of André Villas-Boas.
