Andean Patagonian Archery Club Hosts Successful Indoor Tournament with Double Date

The Andean Patagonian Archery Club held an Indoor Archery Tournament last weekend at the SUM of School 112 with a double date. The two events were official and homologous.

With the support of Chubut Deportes and the collaboration of the Undersecretariat of Sports of the Municipality of Esquel, an Indoor Archery Tournament was held in the city for the Patagonian area. Athletes from Comodoro Rivadavia, Trelew, Puerto Madryn, Bariloche, Rio Gallegos, Trevelin and Esquel participated in this double date.

On Saturday, 48 athletes participated, while on Sunday, 46 athletes participated. An important number for a Patagonian tournament.

Roman Campos, member of the Andean Patagonian Archery Club (CAAP)told in dialogue with The cover that this double event “It allowed us to see high-level athletes and newly initiated archers with a lot of projection.” In this sense, he assured that “Seeing the little ones shoot is a huge joy and shows us that there is a future.”

He also highlighted that the two tournaments that took place on Saturday and Sunday were official and approved. “These characteristics allow archers to be approved for the national finals and enter the Patagonian ranking that grants places for this modality.”, he explained. It should be remembered that the National Final will be held in the month of August in Rio Tercero, Córdoba.

Campos maintained that the double date format “It is particular and quite innovative within the Argentine Archery Federation (FATARCO) since in this way we achieve that in the same weekend the archers can have two events and in these circumstances, where there are so many economic complications, it is quite beneficial for athletes who come from abroad and for locals as well.”

Campos then valued the support and accompaniment of Chubut Deportes for the launch of this tournament. “The work of these institutions is fundamental for the development of our discipline at the provincial level. “The joint work between Chubut Deportes and the Club allows this event to be carried out”he highlighted.

He also pointed out that “The tournament has been very productive because many archers benefited from this support and it allowed them to participate in five days of archery with the evaluation tournament and the campus.”

From Monday to Wednesday, a camp took place in the city for the Under 15 and Under 17 boys from across the province in order to form the Provincial Team that will participate in the Patagonian Integration Games. They will be in the month of July in Neuquén.

Campos announced that “There are athletes from our town classified in the first places in the order of merit for the formation of the provincial team.”
