Stijnen had already spotted Hadj-Moussa’s potential when he was still playing at Olympic Charleroi. He recruited him for free and a year later, he is already reaping the fruits of this acquisition. “This transfer is a strong moment not to be underestimated in the history of our club. A significant step,” Stijnen said in The Importance of Limburg.
At the start of February, Patro Eisden loaned the winger to his sister club, Vitesse Arnhem. There, he scored two goals and provided two assists in his first ten matches. The big clubs in the Netherlands were immediately interested in him, but Feyenoord was the most responsive.
Stijn Stijnen knew his player could explode in the Eredivisie. “Anis took a little getting used to at first, but once everything was in place, he took his chance and quickly became one of our pillars.”
“He has an unpredictable technique while always maintaining great lucidity. It’s very rare. The loan to Vitesse was a logical step in his development. In the Netherlands, he found an ideal showcase to show his qualities.”
Stijnen hopes he won’t be the last player to explode at Patro. “There are still boys with this kind of potential here. I am thinking for example of our Icelandic striker Stefan Sigurdarson and Keano Vanrafelghem, currently on loan at Sporting Hasselt.”
