The Port Authority of Almería has launched a tender for 253,823 euros to build a new mooring point in the Duke of Alba, which is located next to the Ribera I dock of the complex. Thus, work continues in order to enable this area of ​​the Port of Carboneras for the docking of vessels of up to 45,000 dwt and 180 meters in length.

To the construction work of the footbridge that is underway, the APA will provide a safe mooring configuration for ships and to this end, it put out to tender the works of a new mooring point on the parallel defense shoulder, with a base bidding budget of USD 272,484 (VAT excluded) and an expected execution period of three months.

The execution of this project includes the foundation of a quick escape hook (GER) in a reinforced concrete footing, the demolition of the shoulder, the removal of breakwater and concrete blocks, as well as the construction of an access staircase from the sea and the connection of the GER to the existing electrical network.

“With all the actions undertaken around the Duke of Alba we will increase the capacity for docking vessels and, with it, the supply for freight traffic,” explains the president of the Port Authority, Rosario Soto.
