Ajax is facing stiff competition in the battle for the signature of Guido Della Rovere. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that Bayern Munich is doing everything it can to sign the only sixteen-year-old midfielder from Cremonese, while Juventus and a number of unnamed clubs are also closely monitoring the situation surrounding the talent.

Bayern initially wants Della Rovere, who will celebrate his seventeenth birthday in June this year, to join the academy. Less is currently known about the plans of Ajax and Juventus respectively, although he is being closely followed by scouts from both clubs.

Della Rovere, born on June 4, 2007, has played three times for the Italy Under 15 team in the past. His first appearance in Italy Under 16 followed in February last year. The widely praised and coveted talent has made 45 appearances in various youth teams of Cremonese, which plays in Serie B.

Great talent

Della Rovere is seen as an up-and-coming talent in Italian football circles. The left-footed Italian mainly plays his matches in Cremonese’s youth department as an attacking midfielder. He is waiting for his debut in the club’s main squad.

His baptism of fire in the main squad of the Italian second division seems to be a matter of time. Della Rovere was already on the bench eight times during a Cremonese competition match, but there was no playing time yet. The midfielder was last included in the match selection on March 16.

Ajax is looking for talent

It became clear once again last month that Ajax is looking for talent outside the Netherlands. The Amsterdammers were associated with Martin Henrion, a sixteen-year-old goalkeeper from Standard Liège. Various Bundesliga clubs also have their eye on the Belgian youth international.

Sacha Tavolieri, journalist for RMC Sport, wrote that Ajax would be ‘very charmed’ by him. Henrion has not yet made his debut in the main squad of Standard Liège and is regarded by Ajax as an asset to the youth academy.
