Agassi and Graf: Tennis Legends’ Love Story and New Sport

Andre Agassi won the Australian Open four times. Now he appeared as a guest at the tournament in Melbourne and spoke in an interview with Eurosport about his relationship to tennis and his private life with Steffi Graf. The two tennis legends have been married for over 20 years and are apparently still just as in love as they were in the beginning.

According to his own statements, the 53-year-old no longer appears on the tennis court very often. “I feel completely comfortable in the stands,” he says in an interview. He rarely plays himself anymore. “But every now and then I pick up the bat again, it feels good.”

The former professional published a video on Instagram in which he is back on the tennis court after a break of over a year. “It’s like riding a bike – you don’t forget it,” explains the American.

Agassi and Graf have discovered a new sport

However, he now prefers to devote himself to another sport: pickleball, a ball sport mixed from badminton, tennis and table tennis. He was also able to convince his wife Steffi Graf of his new passion and has hardly had a chance against her since then. “She just has it. Just like always. She beats me in everything,” explains Agassi.

The two would complement each other perfectly during training. “It’s perfect. “I like to hit balls and she likes to run,” is how he describes playing together. “She turns it into a workout and I just hit a few balls.”

“Steffi doesn’t need an alarm clock, she is the alarm clock”

Agassi also chats about his private life with the former German tennis player. It is thanks to Steffi that the couple always starts the day early. “Steffi doesn’t need an alarm clock, she’s the alarm clock,” jokes Agassi. This is probably thanks to their “German thoroughness”. “She is always on time. She gets up between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. every day, and I get up just a few minutes later. “I start the day a little more leisurely,” he explains, “but she is in great shape early in the morning. We enjoy spending time together in the mornings.”
