Adriano Bertaccini, the former… RFC Liège who crucified Standard: ‘It was special today’

Here’s one who didn’t need a warm-up session. Entered the game in the 79th minute, Adriano Bertaccini took only 5 minutes to find the opening against Standard. An essential goal since it allowed Saint-Trond to return to 2-3 and thus restart the machine. The rest, we now know, the Canaries will finally snatch the tie at the end of the suspense (3-3).

Obviously, the 2nd scorer Trudonnaire was over the moon after the match. Him, the former RFC Liège, who comes into the game against Standard and who scores… his very first goal in D1 against Rouches. There was reason to be moved. He recounts his evening: “When the coach called me for the change, he looked me in the eyes and told me that I was going to make the difference. I went up to play and Standard made it 1-3. Behind, we see what that resulted in. I put the 2-3 and Kaya, who also came off the bench, plants the 3-3. We made the difference in the last 10 minutes with the changes. When we played at RFC Liège, we understand what a club it is. I was proud to represent it. Today was special. I wanted to score my little goal to say goodbye to them. I did it perfectly. […] It’s very positive. We, the players, have one goal, which is to win the play-offs. If we finish 10th, 11th or 12th, it’s a failed season. What we are aiming for is to win all the matches to reach the play-off.”
