A Recap of the 6th Italian Gender Binomial Championship: The Participants, The Competition, and The Prizes

The participants

With attention to detail by the Arcieri Lupi del Nord Asd, the beautiful parenthesis of the 6th Italian Gender Binomial Championship ended, which was framed by the GreenFantasy agricultural company of Castiglione Olona (Va). 72 participants took to the field: 17 teams made up of a woman and a man in traditional bows and 3 those, always “mixed”, who competed for the technological bows category. The Championship kicked off with the sound of the Mameli Hymn, on a warm spring day. Each formation chose its own name and the organization staff had a lot of fun reading them: just imagine that Gummy Bears armed with bows and arrows even challenged Batman and Robin! Funny names aside, the race ran smoothly without any kind of problem. The competition field was perfectly organised: the Northern Wolf Archers studied for a long time how to position the shapes for this Tricolore.

A fascinating competition

The objective was to make the shots captivating and not predictable and, judging by the archers’ comments, they largely succeeded: “Very nice competition, not easy but very challenging”; “It’s always a pleasure to participate in your competitions, I gave up another event to come to you”; “Congratulations for the race, worthy of an Italian Championship”. The first 3 classified in each category received respectively: 600, 400 and 300 euros. It’s now time to listen to the voice of the organization… in this case Melissa Banfi, federal delegate: “It may seem impossible, but the entire Championship was orchestrated by only 5 people, who dedicated themselves for months to the preparation and set-up and who sacrificed a whole week, from early morning until sunset to set up the pitches of the route. Heartfelt thanks therefore to Andrea Frontini, Luca Tonin, Alessandro Banfi and Roberto De Nicolo.

I premi

Special thanks also to Jessica Scripilliti and Irene Baroncelli for their assistance during the rankings and to the little mascot Bianca for her indispensable help during the awards ceremony. I thank Pierangelo Frosio – Animal 3D for the rental of the silhouette park; Melisandre – We art and wood for having once again given substance to our awards, from the medals in the shape of our wolf mascot to the watches/plaque for the Italian Championship awards, both made and painted by hand. I thank the GreenFantasy agricultural company for its hospitality, located in an 18-hectare park, where it is possible to purchase products (such as goat cheeses and salamis, jams without preservatives, mustards and more) and enjoy a place surrounded by greenery, where nature and tranquility are accompanied by traditional dishes, sometimes reworked to amaze with special effects.

Only one regret

The company is managed by a united and friendly family, who moved away from the city to return to their origins. The Agriturismo’s cuisine is based on quality raw materials, low temperature cooking and limited use of condiments. GreenFantasy is therefore an excellent choice for those looking for natural products with direct production, simplicity and at the same time unusual combinations. In conclusion, I thank the participating archers who repaid us for every effort and sacrifice with their compliments, their smiles and their affection. The only regret was the low turnout of participation from the regions outside the North-West Interregional. However, we Lupacchiotti will continue to roll up our sleeves to bring this beautiful sport to ever higher levels” (source: FIDASC).
