72. Trento Film Festival: from 26 April to 5 May a kaleidoscope on the mountains of the world

There are more than 40 locations ready to welcome the 120 films and over 130 events of the 72nd Trento Film Festival, scheduled from 26 April to 5 May in the Trentino capital. This was announced by the president of the Trento Film Festival Mauro Leveghi, together with the general president of the CAI, Antonio Montani, the director of the festival, Luana Bisesti, and the director of the film program Mauro Gervasini.

72. Trento Film Festival: from 26 April to 5 May a kaleidoscope on the mountains of the world

«For many years, the Trento Film Festival has been the “Filmfestival of the mountains”, with the highlands in the singular. The legacy of a somewhat idealistic vision, outdated in practice and perhaps never really suited to the spirit of the event. Since the early years, in fact, the Festival has put aside the monolithic concept of mountains to be conquered in the name of some strong idea, be it progress or homeland” said president Mauro Leveghi. «Today the true identity of the Trento Film Festival is in its pay off: Mountains and Cultures. In the plural, both, because there are many mountains in the world, and we like to think of the ways of looking at them, experiencing them and interpreting them as infinite. Also in this 72nd edition we will try to give space and voice to this plurality, thinking of the Festival as a sort of kaleidoscope, through which each spectator composes his own overall picture, marveling at every small change in angle at how much the vision can change overall”.

Italian and international guests

The 72nd edition of the Trento Film Festival therefore promises to be extremely heterogeneous and full of food for thought, with Italian and international guests, such as the mountaineers Reinhold Messner, Tamara Lunger, Krzysztof Wielicki, Silvo Karo, the Iranian climber and civil rights activist Nasim Eshqui, the climbing champion Stefano Ghisolfi, the writers Mauro Corona, Arno Camenisch, Enrico Brizzi, Erri De Luca, Fosco Terzani, Matteo Righetto, the actors Alessio Boni and Veronica Pivetti, the journalists Corrado Augias and Beppe Severgnini, the philosopher Umberto Galimberti , the explorers Alex Bellini, Tristan Gooley and Lorenzo Barone.

In search of Irishness

As already anticipated in February, the highly popular Destination… section will this year take the public on a journey to Ireland, a land of migration and breathtaking landscapes, to discover Irishness, through cinema, literature and obviously music, with Cisco of the Modena City Ramblers who will play the successes of “Riportando tutto a casa”, thirty years after the album’s release, in conversation with the radio journalist John Vignola.

72. Trento Film Festival: opening up more and more to different worlds and languages

A Festival which, in its 2024 edition, therefore intends to open up more and more to different worlds and languages, also through new sections such as Cincontri, Sete d’infinito and Adventures outside the door, renewing the contents of consolidated formats such as Emotions between the pages, A It’s time to acclimatise, science pills, and bringing back into the program the appreciated trips to the territories with the Story trekking.

Masterclasses and image education

Many masterclasses are scheduled, from a workshop dedicated to the animations of Hayao Miyazaki, on the occasion of Heidi’s fiftieth anniversary, to the lesson of Massimiliano Nocera, set designer of The Eight Mountains, passing through a workshop with Ludovica Basso, aka Clorophilla, signature
of the official poster of the edition.

There will be no shortage of proposals from T4Future, the section of the Festival dedicated to new generations: a program of screenings, workshops and activities designed to encourage image education and promote issues related to sustainable development, environmental protection and education to active citizenship, in collaboration with many local entities. Among the protagonists, Davide Baldoni, a graduate of the Disney Academy and illustrator for Mickey Mouse since 1999, and the director Enzo d’Alò, who will present his latest animated feature film, Mary and the Midnight Spirit.
