49ers Should Consider Drafting Quarterback Late: Meet Potential Backup Option Bradley

Bryan Terry-USA TODAY Sports

It makes a ton of sense for the 49ers to add a QB late in the draft. They’ll need an affordable backup option they trust once Purdy gets his sizable pay day in the next offseason or two. Bradley, the son of former NFL head coach Gus Bradley, is a fine prospect with good size and a similar play style to Purdy. He started for two seasons at South Alabama after getting sporadic playing time across four years at Toledo. With South Alabama Bradley completed 66 percent of his throws for 5,995 yards, 47 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. His tools aren’t elite, but they’re certainly good enough to work as an NFL backup. Chances are he’d run the 49ers’ practice squad and give San Francisco a chance to develop a player in-house as a QB2.
