Holstein Kiel just keeps winning. Against Osnabrück they achieved their fifth three-pointer in a row without conceding a goal. The Düsseldorf Fortuna also continues to be successful.

Holstein Kiel’s first promotion to the Bundesliga is becoming increasingly likely. Coach Marcel Rapp’s team clearly won 4-0 (2-0) against bottom-placed VfL Osnabrück and took the lead in the table, at least for one day.

However, FC St. Pauli can overtake Kiel again with a win against Elversberg on Sunday. After two recent wins, Osnabrück showed an overall weak performance and remains in 18th place, still six points behind the relegation place.

Kiel dominated the game at will in front of 15,034 spectators in the sold-out Holstein Stadium. Before the break, Steven Skrzybski (9th minute) and Philipp Sander (38th) gave the hosts a deserved lead. After the break, Timo Becker (76th) and Alexander Bernhardsson (84th) increased for the strong Kiel team, for whom it was their fifth win in a row without conceding a goal.

Fifth win in a row: Düsseldorf in promotion form

Fortuna Düsseldorf also won again in the promotion battle. Coach Daniel Thioune’s team won 2-0 (0-0) at SV Wehen Wiesbaden thanks to goals from Shinta Appelkamp (13th minute) and Isak Johannesson (64th). After the fifth win in a row, Fortuna is four points ahead of the Hanseatic League in third place ahead of Sunday’s game against Hamburger SV in Magdeburg.

KSC loses connection

Karlsruher SC didn’t get beyond a 1:1 (1:1) draw at SC Paderborn and therefore has little chance of promotion. A goal from Igor Matanovic (26th minute) ensured the draw. Sirlord Conteh (21st) had previously shot Paderborn into the lead when KSC was outnumbered. Shortly beforehand, David Herold was injured and had to be substituted later.

Important Schalke victory in the relegation battle

FC Schalke 04 defeated 1. FC Nürnberg 2-0 (1-0) in the evening and thus gained a little breathing room in the relegation battle. Thanks to their success, the Gelsenkirchen team increased their lead over the relegation place to five points, at least until Sunday, and moved within two points of Nuremberg.

In front of 62,278 spectators in the sold-out Schalke football arena, Kenan Karaman (42nd minute) and Paul Seguin (86th) scored the goals for the Revierclub, which climbed to twelfth place in the table.
