2024 Sejong City School Sports Club Competition Promotes Student Health and Unity

This competition is run as a competition between schools, and the first-place team in 11 of the 12 sports, excluding group rope jumping, will represent Sejong City in the National School Sports Club Festival.

The competition is operated as a league match, tournament, or full league depending on the characteristics of the event, and is distributed throughout Sejong City in consideration of the academic schedule.

In addition, all competitions are held after regular classes or on weekends to ensure students’ right to study, and the Sejong City Office of Education plans to appropriately allocate and operate competitions so that they are not concentrated on specific days, taking students’ physical strength levels into consideration.

This year’s Superintendent of Education School Sports Club Competition will be held together with the preliminary round of the National School Sports Club Festival, and each match is expected to be fierce. A team of local physical education teachers will be selected to ensure that this competition can be operated as a sports festival that pursues learning. The Middle School Physical Education Research Association (Chairman Kim Hong-chan, Sejong High School) runs the competition.

A total of 7,053 students from 84 schools (3,264 elementary school students, 2,463 middle school students, and 1,326 high school students) participated in this competition, the largest number of students participating in any competition in history.

The sport in which the most students participated was volleyball, with 1,242 students participating.

The sport in which the next largest number of students participated was group rope jumping, with 1,206 participants, followed by soccer with 756 students, and badminton with 626 students.

In addition, the schools with the most students participating in this competition by school level were Hamil Elementary School with 536 students in 10 sports, Yangji Middle School with 252 students in 11 sports, and Hansol High School with 133 students in 8 sports.

The Sejong City Office of Education plans to provide intensive support to ensure that all games are conducted fairly and safely by deploying referees, referees, hosts, safety personnel, and emergency ambulances throughout each competition venue.
