Dreaming middle and high school badminton players will compete fiercely in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province.
The city announced on the 11th that the ‘2024 Korea Badminton Association Long-Term National Badminton Middle and High School Competition’ will be held from April 13 to 22 at Seosan Citizen’s Gymnasium and Seosan Oullim Gymnasium.
This tournament is hosted by the Korea Badminton Association (Chairman Kim Taek-gyu) and jointly organized by the Seosan City Badminton Association (Chairman Jeong Seung-chae) and the Chungcheongnam-do Badminton Association (Chairman Park Byeong-un).
152 teams and 813 players from 94 schools across the country will participate, and 439 team games will be held during the tournament. In the city, 13 students from Seosan Seokrim Middle School and 5 students from Seoil High School will participate in the women’s team event.
Admission is free, and anyone wishing to attend can visit Seosan Citizens Gymnasium and Seosan Eoullim Gymnasium during the competition schedule.
The city predicted that approximately 2,000 people, including players, families, officials, and spectators, are expected to stay in the area during this tournament, which will greatly revitalize local tourism and the economy.
In addition, as many people are visiting the city, we plan to make every effort to support business operations such as stadium safety, lighting, and parking lot management to ensure smooth operation of the competition.
Mayor Lee Wan-seop of Seosan said, “I am proud that the city is hosting this tournament, where aspiring middle and high school badminton students are fiercely competing. We look forward to great performances from the aspiring badminton players, and we will do our best to provide support to ensure a smooth operation of the game.”
Meanwhile, the city held an agreement ceremony with the Korea Badminton Association in April last year to host four national badminton competitions, and as a result, the national badminton competitions will be held in the city until 2027 and the badminton national team selection competition will be held in the city until this year.
