The Croatian capital is preparing to welcome over 400 athletes from 47 countries, for an event that will award well fifteen continental titles (14 individual and 1 team, in the mixed team event) also giving away important points for the Olympic qualification rankings towards Paris 2024.
The Italian national team uses the maximum contingent of 18 judokas but will have to do without four absolute stars of the movement such as Manuel Lombardo, Christian Parlati, Asya Tavano, Assunta Scutto and Alice Bellandi, all already projected towards preparation for the Olympics. The spearhead of the Italian expedition therefore becomes Odette Giuffrida, looking for a medal in the -52 kg, but there are many Italian outsiders who will try to get to the end. Today from 10.00 the preliminaries of the 48, 52, 57 kg Female and 60, 66 kg Male categories are scheduled and from 5.00 pm the Final Block.
