Australian U-23 national team drew against Jordan U-23 in the group stage match 2024 U-23 Asian Cup at the Abdullah Bin Naser Bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, Qatar, Monday (15/4) evening Indonesian time.

Australia played with possession of the ball and patiently played the ball to open up space in Jordan’s defense area. Ryan Teague and friends play a medium tempo.

Facing Australia which is trying to maximize possession, Jordan defended well and neatly. Jordan, who played directly, had difficulty building attacks several times because Australia’s pressing seemed difficult.

Australia had opportunities through Nicolas Milanovic, Alou Kuol, Rhys Youlley and Callum Talbot.

On the other hand, Jordan’s fast attack also caused problems for Australia’s defense. Goalkeeper Patrick Beach even had to make a save on Reziq Bani Hani’s kick at the end of the first half.

Australia and Jordan both maintained their playing pattern in the second half.

The young Socceroos squad was still having difficulty breaking down the opponent’s defense, while Jordan threatened through the execution of Baker Kalbouneh’s final finish in the 53rd minute which was saved by Beach.

Followed by a corner kick for Jordan. The dead ball scheme resulted in a goal, but then referee Hiroyuki Kimura annulled it because Kalbouneh who headed the ball was in an offside position.

Jordan’s direct attack on Australia’s defense appeared to be more effective in the second half. Australia responded by launching a long-range shot from Mohamed Toure.

In the 82nd minute Jordan had to play with 10 men after Danial Afaneh received a second yellow card.

Australia tried to maximize their advantage in numbers, but Jordan was able to overcome attacks like that from the start of the match.
