Zverev Advances to Quarterfinals in Miami, Eyes Potential Showdown with Alcaraz

There the 26-year-old will face the unseeded Hungarian Fabian Marozsan. Another duel with the Spanish Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz could wait in the semi-finals.

Zverev is in strong shape in Florida, the Miami finalist from 2018 gave Khachanov no chance in a new edition of the Olympic final in Tokyo 2021.

After just 27 minutes, Zverev grabbed the first set. In the second round, the German number one broke the Russian early and used his first match point to win a little later.

After reaching the quarterfinals in Indian Wells a week ago, Zverev is back in the top 5 of the world rankings for the first time since his serious ankle injury at the French Open 2022.

A year ago, the Olympic champion in Miami failed at his opening hurdle.

Alcaraz, who recently won the Masters in Indian Wells, clearly prevailed against Lorenzo Musetti 6:3, 6:3 in the round of 16.
