Zlín and Bohemians Battle to a 2-2 Draw: Kangaroos Struggle to Secure a Win

Except for the last mutual duel, the kangaroos at Letná in Zlín are doing quite well. The first half offered a decent spectacle on the waterlogged turf. After a quarter of an hour of play, their top scorer Erik Prekop put the guests in the lead and added his fifth goal of the year. Even in the second act, the supporters of both camps did not get bored and saw three more goals and a final draw of 2:2. Bohemians lost a 2-0 lead and extended their winless streak to ten games.

Marodka Bohemians has grown again

As if that wasn’t enough, defender Jan Vondra and winger Martin Hála joined the group of kangaroos before the match in Zlín. In addition, the young back Adam Kadlec was also carded. Vondra was replaced by Antonín Křapka after a longer period of time. For the first time since coming to Bohemka, the all-rounder Jan Shejbal got a chance in the starting line-up. After a year, Ondřej Petrák returned to the football fields and was a kangaroo joker during the match.

Home team Zlín sent a proven line-up to the pitch. Vukadin Vukadinovič started on the bench and captain Dominik Simerský remained on it. The two eventually came on and revived the game. Simerský in particular played a prominent role.

Goalkeeper Dostál kept Zlín afloat again

It’s already such a Zlín custom. When the cobblers are losing, and the opponent has another chance to add insurance, the goalkeeper Stanislav Dostál appears and brilliantly catches the opponent’s shot one after another. In the first and second half he was literally magical and Milan Ristovski, Erik Prekop, Robert Hrubý and Matyáš Kozák burned out on him.

It was no different in the match with Bohemians either. In the 15th minute, Jan Kovařík sent a penetrating pass through the middle of the field and Prekop sent the guests into the lead. It is also worth mentioning the great chance of the home team Antonín Fantiš, who failed to direct Tomáš Čelůstka’s accurate cross and missed Roman Valeš’s goal with his head. At the end of the first half, Dostál caught a 100% chance from the small goal for Ristovski and the score was 0:1.

The second half started with a great onslaught of Zlín footballers. After a few standard situations and failures came a shock on the other side. Bohemians turned the corner kick into a second goal. Kovařík sent the ball beautifully to the head of substitute Ondřej Petrák and he made it 2:0. Kovařík scored his second assist in the game and Petrák scored after a minute on the pitch when he replaced Shejbal in the 55th minute.

The key extension of stopper Černín

After an hour of play, the Kangaroos appeared to have victory in their pocket. It didn’t happen, and the key decision was to push the giant Zlín stopper Jakub Černín into the offensive. In the 63rd minute, virtually the entire Bohemka team showed a great lack of emphasis. It was Černín who got free on the right side through Michal Beran, sent a cross into the box and the unguarded Fantiš hung his head. Zlín mainly threatened from long centers and jams in the lime. Unlike Bohemians, they did not create many great chances. Hrubý and Kozák had a chance to increase. But he managed to hit the ball perfectly every time and the chance for a point was still alive.

Zlín managed to equalize in a low-key action a quarter of an hour before the end. Two alternating players had their fingers in the goal. Tomáš Schánělec caused confusion in Bohemka’s penalty area, from which Simerský benefited and equalized with a precise shot to the post. A major turnaround could be accomplished in two minutes. Černín fired a bouncy ball behind the goal and only narrowly missed Valeš’s post. The last chance came just before the end, when Schánělec himself missed the goal with a header in a small area. Zlín could have easily won the match in the end. On the contrary, Bohemians lost a two-goal lead after stupid mistakes and lack of emphasis in their own penalty area.

The interesting match of the 25th round of the Fortuna League ended in a well-deserved draw of 2:2. The kangaroos can therefore regret the missed chance to win, they were more football-oriented, but not more effective.

Slončík should have been expelled

The young domestic midfielder Tom Slončík was able to thank the head referee Marko Radin after the match, who did not exclude him in any case. In the 32nd minute, Slončík elbowed the stopper Lukáš Hůlk, although probably unconsciously. However, if you saw the Europa League match between Slavia and AC Milan on Thursday, when Tomáš Holeš received a red card for an unconscious foul, we can say that Slončík could also have been expelled in this case.

Referee Radina did not send Slončík off even in the second half. The midfielder playing with a yellow card indiscriminately fouled Kozák, and after the whistle blew, he still had big comments about the referee. However, he awarded a yellow card to Lukáš Bartošák. An incomprehensible decision. Coach Bronislav Červenka immediately substituted the midfielder to avoid his expulsion.

A match in the spirit of alternating jokers

On the Bohemians side, the recovered Ondřej Petrák and on the Zlín side Dominik Simerský with Tomáš Schánělc. All three were lucky moves by both coaches. Kangaroo coach Jaroslav Veselý sent Petrák into the game in the 55th minute and he scored 2:0 in a few seconds.

A completely identical incident occurred on the opposite side twenty minutes later. Another time, coach Bronislav Červenka sent captain Simerský into the game and he tied the score at 2:2 after a minute on the field. Tomáš Schánělec, who is visiting from Sparta, also had a hand in Zlín’s goal.

Bohemians’ streak without a win continues in the Fortuna league. Ten games without a win is a really scary record. In addition, the Kangaroos are the only team that has not yet won a competitive match in 2024. The other fifteen units have already succeeded.
