The Xàtiva Badminton Club won two medals, a silver and a bronze, in the Top TTR Sub-13 and Sub-17 tournament held last Saturday in El Campello. They attended the meeting six athletes from the Setabe club, three from each category, and who had an outstanding performance. The first medal came in men’s under-13 individual, where Arnau Ballester won bronze after losing in the semifinals to Óscar Cocera by 21-14 and 21-12. In individuals, Adrià Meseguer also competed, who came second in the group; and Aarón Fasanar, who is starting this season in these competitions.
In doubles, Adrià and Arnau won the silver medal after losing in the final against Luca Adrián and Ángel Megías by 21-10, 18-21 and 21-18. Aarón played the mixed doubles with Maria Coloma, from CB San Fernando de València.
In the under-17 category, Sarai Ramón returned to competitions after a few months of inactivity and left good feelings in the individual event. Feliu Terol, under-15, competed in a higher category to gain experience and face older rivals. He reached the final draw, losing in the quarterfinals against Jiaxi Zuo, from CB Alicante, by 21-10 and 21-15, finally qualifying in fifth position. In mixed doubles, Ximo Torres and Sarai Ramón lost in the group stage, as did Ximo and Feliu in the men’s doubles.
The Xàtiva club was also represented at the first concentration of the Se Busca Campeón program, which took place in El Campello, after finishing the Top TTR Under-13 and Under-17 tournament.
Master Youth Sub-15 and Sub-19
CB Xàtiva was also present at the Youth Master of the sub-15 and sub-19 categories held last weekend in Tordesillas (Castilla y León), where Andrea Orquín competed in the women’s singles and doubles events, in the latter partnering with Soraya Gandia, from CB Enguera. In individual, the Badminton athlete In doubles, Andrea and Soraya could not advance to the final draw.
Silver and bronze for David Polop
The CB Xàtiva athlete David Polop won two medals, a silver and a bronze, in the Autonomous University Championship (CADU), held last week in Alicante. David, who was participating for the first time in this championship, together with the team from the University of Valencia, won silver in the individual event after qualifying as first in the group and entering the final phase, passing the semi-finals and losing in the final. against Miguel Esteve, from CB Alicante. In men’s doubles he teamed up with Gabriel Saiz and won bronze. The UV team, of which Polop is a part, came third in the university classification.
Upcoming competitions
The Xàtiva Badminton Club will play a new territorial tournament next weekend in Ibi, in this case the Top TTR for the Under-11, Under-15 and Under-19 categories. The club will attend with six sub-15 and sub-19 athletes. On the other hand, CB Xàtiva will also be in Soria (Castilla y León), where the club’s athlete Vicente Ferrer will compete in the Top TTR of absolute and senior categories.
