Dominator Francesco Friedrich won all three World Cup championships in one season for the fifth time in his illustrious career.

After the early triumph in the overall World Cup and the success in the twosome, the 33-year-old from Oberbärenburg also made everything clear in the foursome on Saturday. He had already achieved this four times in a row from 2019 to 2021.

Lochner and Ammour in second and third place

With his victory after just one run in the last race of the World Cup final in Lake Placid/US state of New York, the four-time Olympic champion Friedrich prevailed ahead of the Latvian Emils Cipulis and his long-term rival Johannes Locher from Stuttgart. In Lake Placid, the location of the 1980 Winter Olympics, the outstanding pilot of today triumphed in another German triple success in the foursome ahead of Lochner and the great hope Adam Ammour (Oberhof). The same order had already happened on Friday in the twosome.

Olympic champion Laura Nolte also had reason to celebrate ahead of Francesco Friedrich and his crew. The 25-year-old from Winterberg won the overall World Cup for the first time and at the same time, like last year, won the season ranking in the two-man event. In the monobob she took third place in the final rankings.

In the 16th and final competition of the year, third place was enough for Laura Nolte in a pair with pusher Claudia Schüssler. With 3,267 points, the Sauerlander came out ahead of fourth-placed Lisa Buckwitz from Oberhof (3,183), who had won the World Cup in the monobob the day before.

Kim Kalicki at the front

The victory in Lake Placid went to Kim Kalicki from Wiesbaden. After two runs, the 26-year-old former world champion had a huge 81 hundredths of a second lead over Britain’s Adele Nicoll. Laura Nolte was 85 hundredths behind. Kalicki took second place in the two-man World Cup behind Nolte and ahead of Buckwitz.

The German women thus underlined their dominance in the World Cup. Of the nine top three placements in the three World Cup rankings, seven went to the athletes of the Bobsleigh and Sled Association for Germany. Only in the monobob did the Australian Bree Walker prevent a double German triumph.

The races in Lake Placid were highly relevant for the Bobsleigh and Sled Association for Germany (BSD) not only because of the numerous decisions; the World Championships will also take place in the US state of New York in 2025.
