Considerable differences between clubs

If the salaries of PSG players can make you dizzy, they are in reality much higher than those of their opponents. Eleventh in the ranking, Monegasque Wissam Ben Yedder earns around 650,000 euros per month, tied with Marseillais Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Alongside the Parisians, his teammates from Olympique de Marseille (OM) and players from Olympique Lyonnais make up the entire rest of the top 30.

Of the twelve clubs with the smallest budgets in the championship, reduced in summer 2023 to eighteen teams, only three players receive more than 200,000 euros gross per month. For example, Clermont Foot 63, dead last in the Ligue 1 ranking in sporting terms, pays Maxime Gonalons 60,000 euros, its best-paid player.

Finally, for comparison, the sports daily tells us that a referee officiating in the first division earns 7,239 euros per month.
