Five years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, White basketball player Martín Godoy told The Compass 24 that his fight to confront the disease has been giving more than positive results. The latest medical studies confirmed to Godoy that multiple sclerosis “has gone out, it has no activity.” The joy is not only for Martín himself, the main interested party, but it logically extended to his family, friends and two institutions with a basketball tradition: Comercial and Argentino, the club of his loves and where he currently plays, respectively.

“I lost sensation in half my head. We went to the neurologist and after several tests they confirmed that it was multiple sclerosis. Although we had heard about the disease, we did not know the effects it caused. The news did not go down well at all. At that time he played and worked. He only had little or no sensitivity until they found the diagnosis, which was reached by ruling out. Until then it was always a normal life,” he said.
Martín began to be medicated and, fortunately, the results of the treatments they performed on him did not take long to give the positive results everyone expected.
“I had a second episode, much bigger, in which I lost mobility in one hand and one foot, I saw double and it was difficult for me to speak. After 96 days, luckily there were no physical consequences and the most recent studies confirm that the disease, fortunately, went away; has no activity. “That is the definition used by the neurologist who has been monitoring me for three years,” he indicated.
Godoy admitted that his condition as an athlete helped him a lot to not let himself fall after the “heavy” diagnosis of the disease. “I never stayed in bed. Although that was the easiest, because by the second episode I couldn’t do anything without help, I never sat still. When the last one left my house, I could make competitive movements as if I were about to start a game,” he said.
“Beyond the clubs, sport taught me an enormous lesson, which is to always get up. Commercial is my life, the patio of my house, and now I have to be in Argentino. I have to take my hat off to them because from day one they have been with me,” she stated.
