“We were able to improve our pace in a second”

MADRID, 23 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish MotoGP rider Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) appreciated the important step taken this Saturday in the Portuguese Grand Prix, improving the pace “by one second” after a good comeback in the Sprint race to be fourteenth.

“Our race has been quite good despite taking a lot of risks with the set-up. It is still a new bike and we are learning things in each outing,” he said in statements provided by his team after a complicated morning.

The Repsol Honda team rider had qualified twentieth but in the race he found rhythm and better sensations. “In the morning we were not able to take the step forward we needed, so we suffered in the qualifying session,” he said.

“In the race my pace has been close to that of the top ten, but leaving so far back limits us. We have to be happy with the step we have taken because we have been able to improve our pace by a second,” he concluded.
