“We remained patient, mentally united” against Scotland, appreciates Manae Feleu

In a landslide, the Blues won this Saturday against the Scots (5-15), for the second day of the Tournament.

David Ortiz (co-selector of the French women’s XV, victorious over Scotland 15 to 5): “We lacked efficiency in our highlights in the first half, there were ups and downs in this meeting. In our weak moments, we managed not to break down, which allowed us to finish better than them and to create chances at the end of the match. It was very hard but it’s also very constructive for the future.”

Gaëlle Mignot (co-selector of the French women’s XV): “This victory is important, the contract has been fulfilled, especially since we must not forget the context in which we were welcomed. The Tournament is a qualifier for level one of the WXV (international women’s rugby union competition created in March 2021, Editor’s note) and the next World Cup, so all the teams are keen to raise their level. Even if we are already qualified, and we have different objectives, this is not the case for Scotland. So we knew it would be hard. What we remember above all is that we didn’t give up and this victory will serve us well for the future.”

Manae Feleu (second row and captain of the Bleues): “We never stopped believing in it, we never panicked, we remained patient, mentally united, and that’s what made us win the match. Defense has always been part of the identity of our group, it also shows that the work we do during the week pays off, so I am very proud of what we were able to produce in defense today. The match is not perfect, it was very tough and we knew it would be. But I would like to congratulate my teammates on their state of mind.”
