Warriors Overpower Heat to Secure Victory and Maintain Western Conference Standing

The Heat had some response throughout the evening but it was the Warriors who left Miami with the victory. The Splash Brothers as well as Draymond Green all responded, it was necessary to thwart Bam Adebayo’s plans.

Crucial match for the Warriors, officially promised eleventh place in the West behind the Rockets and their crazy dynamic if they lose this evening. On the Heat side, we are looking to create distance with Philly and if we can go after the Pacers to take the sixth spot in the East, synonymous with the Playoffs without going through the Play-in box, we will not deprive ourselves.

The Warriors start strong with an interesting first run of 20 to 12, but a 14-4 from Miami allowed the Heat to lead 26-24 at the end of the first quarter. The Heat can’t count on Jimmy Butler this evening, but as always, we have a Florida pivot to keep Miami going. Bam Adebayo already has 9 pts and 3 rebounds at the end of the first quarter.

The two teams will remain level with each other during the end of this first half. Klay Thompson is having a good night with already 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Off the bench, the Warriors can count on Chris Paul with already 4 assists, while the Heat benefit from the good contribution of Haywood Highsmith. The boss of the Heat regular is always there: Bam, who had hit his head earlier, displays 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists as well as fierce and flawless racket defense. The score is 55-53 for the Heat at halftime.

The Warriors set their pace on the recovery, helped by Draymond Green. We feel that Dray is holding back from sending tackles to the outside of the Heat who come to attack his racket. He ends up grabbing Patty Mills by the throat to send him to the ground but we can’t take it away from him: he offers very good playmaking which allows the Warriors to have great ball movement.

On the Heat side, Bam Adebayo continues to send wood while Terry Rozier shows us all his qualities as an artist. Miami suffers against a Warriors collective that knows each other by heart. Golden State largely dominates this third quarter and enters the final period with a ten-point lead.

The Heat tries to come back, but Chef Curry says no by sending warheads. A first missile from the Heat Culture logo, a second 3-pointer while completely smothered by Bam to move to +12. He sends a caviar to Kevon Looney, and it is on a pass from number 30 that Klay Thompson sends the 3-pointer which will put the Warriors at +20.

The Heat did not recover, and ultimately lost 113 to 92. Klay ended the night with 28 points on 11/20 shots and 6/14 from 3-point range, well supported by Jonathan Kuminga’s 18 points. Draymond Green, for his part, sent down 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals to go with his 4 points. Chief Curry had a quiet night with 17 points, as did Andrew Wiggins. Bam Adebayo, too alone, still put out a performance of 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Warriors will not be overtaken by the Rockets tonight. Still in place to play their role in the Play-in, Golden State is taking a little breather in the Western Conference.
