Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Hits First Home Run of Preseason Game

In his fifth preseason game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run of camp on Monday.

He recorded his long ball in the first inning of the Toronto Blue Jays’ 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. After his solo home run, Vlad drove in another run with a single in the fifth inning.
Bo Bichette produced two runs of his own in the same inning, also with a single.

Guerrero Jr. finished his day batting two balls to safety in three appearances. George Springer was also in uniform. He drew one walk in three at-bats.

On the mound, Trevor Richards allowed one hit in one and a third innings. Jordan Romano allowed one run and two hits in two thirds of an inning.

Before the match, we learned that Kevin Gausman was sidelined due to right shoulder fatigue.

Among the Quebecers in action on Monday, Abraham Toro was perfect at bat in a 15-8 loss of the Oakland Athletics to the Cincinnati Reds.

Toro added three hits to his tally during Major League Baseball spring camp. He thus increased his batting average to .353. He drove in a run with a single in the fifth inning.

The young star of the Reds, Elly de la Cruz concluded her match with a two-run triple. It was his only hit in four at-bats.

For his part, Édouard Julien once again placed the ball in a safe place in a 7-2 victory for the Minnesota Twins over the Baltimore Orioles. He had a hit and an RBI in the game.

The Quebecer now has at least one hit on his record in five of his six preparatory games in 2024.

Quebecer Charles Leblanc reached the trails with a walk in the Los Angeles Angels’ 3-2 win over the Texas Rangers. Leblanc only got to bat twice in the game. He has a .091 batting average since the start of training camp.
