The Municipal Sports Center has hosted the VIII Churriana Integra Inclusive Race, organized by the Granada Integra sports association, with the aim of raising funds for the objective of creating a loan bank for sports equipment adapted to disabilities.

The route has passed through the streets of Churriana passing through La Vega, on a day in which the weather conditions have accompanied the hundreds of participating athletes.

Antonio Narváez, mayor of Churriana de la Vega, has highlighted the importance of this test “for its inclusive and accessible nature, sensitive to disabilities, because we are aware that we have a long way to go, and that we must do it together.”

«It is a satisfaction to share this festive day with families and neighbors of Churriana, clubs, sports schools, and of course with the family of the Granada Integra sports association, which does great work for a sport open to all.

Alberto Luque has won the victory in the absolute 8 km category, with Keila Fernández in first position in the women’s category. In the different categories of athletes with disabilities, the winners were Francisco Antonio Salvatierra, Javier Portilla, Francisco José Santos, Francisco Javier López, Francisco Ramírez, Sandra Castillo, Tania Romero, Manolo Salcedo and Ignacio Essarhir.

The 2024 inclusive race has coincided with the tenth anniversary of the Granada Integra sports association, which has celebrated the Day for Inclusion on the occasion of this commemoration. The students from all the educational centers in Churriana de la Vega have stopped by the Municipal Sports Center to share different sports activities, such as wheelchair basketball, paddle tennis and adapted badminton or football for the blind.

The program also featured a conference by Antonio Muñoz Vinuesa and the participation of distinguished athletes, including former soccer players Rafa Paz and José Miguel Prieto. These prominent figures shared experiences and reflections on the power of sport to break down barriers and promote equal opportunities.

On Tuesday, March 12, the 1st Inclusion Gala took place at the Palace of Performing Arts and Music, with awards given to people who have stood out for their contribution to more inclusive sport and leisure from different areas such as culture, communication, volunteering or institutions.
