Victor Wembanyama Shines in Historic NBA Performance

Victor Wembanyama continues to play big in the NBA. The 20-year-old Frenchman scored a whopping 40 points in the San Antonio Spurs’ 130:126 overtime win against the New York Knicks.

Wembanyama, who also grabbed 20 rebounds, became the first NBA “rookie” since Shaquille O’Neal in 1993 to score at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a game. He added seven assists, two steals and one block to his statistics.

Wembanyama stole the show from Knicks playmaker Jaylen Brunson, although he scored 61 points, just one point shy of Carmelo Anthony’s franchise record (2014).

The Brooklyn Nets, meanwhile, prevailed against the Chicago Bulls thanks to a three-way gala. In the 125:108 (47:52) home win, the Nets hit a total of 25 of their 44 long-distance shots, and with 18 successful three-pointers in the second half, the team from New York set a record in the North American Basketball League.
