Verstappen wins Bahrain Grand Prix in season opener

Verstappen won Friday’s qualifying and started Saturday’s race from pole position. At the start, Charles Leclair (“Ferrari”) did not particularly threaten his position, and later he himself retreated to third place behind George Russell (“Mercedes”).

At the end of the race, both “Ferrari” pilots overtook Russell, Carlos Sainz Jr. winning the third place, and Leclair – the fourth.

Pilots of five teams finished in points. Russell was fifth, followed by Lando Norris (McLaren), with his teammates Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastre taking the next places. At the end of the top ten were both “Aston Martin” drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.

During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the race will take place on Saturday, so the battle for points at the next stage in Saudi Arabia will take place on the penultimate day of the week instead of the last.

This season, 24 rounds will be held in the F-1 championship.
