Max Verstappen had a very strong Grand Prix in Bahrain last weekend. Verstappen won the race with playful ease and that resulted in many compliments. Verstappen was not completely satisfied with his new RB20, because he stated that the pace over a single lap was quite disappointing.
Verstappen was considered the big title favorite prior to the season. At the Sakhir circuit he showed that he was in top form. At the start he repelled an attack from Charles Leclerc and then disappeared over the horizon. He never relinquished the lead and he also drove the fastest lap of the race. The new RB20 seemed to function as expected and the competition is quite concerned.
Verstappen is not completely satisfied with his new RB20. He gives his team Red Bull Racing some homework, as he explains at the press conference for the top three: “For some reason the car is not great over a single lap. But fortunately the car is very good in the race on most circuits. Of course you mainly focus on the race, but for some reason other teams can squeeze out just a little more over a single lap. So we will look at that for the coming races.”
