Van’t Schip will leave Ajax as coach at the end of the season

The Dutch record champions Ajax Amsterdam are looking for a new head coach. John van’t Schip is leaving at the end of the season and will instead take on another role in the club in consultation with the club’s management.

“This is something for several years. We have to see what role that will be exactly,” said the 60-year-old at the press conference before the away game against FC Zwolle on Easter Sunday.

The 1988 European champions took over the crisis-ridden Ajax team as interim coach in October after the dismissal of Maurice Steijn in last place in the Eredivisie table; the club is currently in fifth place.
