Valencia Basket moves away from the play-in against Maccabi

Valencia Baskert lost (95-80) this Wednesday against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the duel that opened the fireworks for the last three of the Euroleague, moving the Spanish team away from the tight ‘play-in’, an area from which two tickets will emerge to the playoffs.
Álex Mumbrú’s team failed on an important day, and there are only two left to try to be between sixth and tenth in the table. The ‘Taronja’ team will remain out of the ‘Top 10’ this week, after a duel with little option and a rival from above.
Semi Ojeleye (15 points) was the best of their team, but from more to less, and Valencia found no weapons against a Maccabi that wants to reach the playoffs among the top six. Mumbrú’s team was once again burdened by losses on the inside, they did not use their best defense and the success was limited, with some from Kassius Robertson (13) and Damien Inglis (12 and 9 rebounds).
Maccabi, which ended up winning its 15th consecutive victory, showed its good momentum but allowed the visitor’s presentation. Mumbrú’s team achieved a 0-12 partial, with Ojeleye already standing out, to tie the first set while the reunions began. Stefan Jovic’s with Belgrade was not good for the Spanish team.

After the restart, the home team’s scoring ability was seen in Lorenzo Brown and then Dibartolomeo. Together with a great quarter from former Valencian Jasiel Rivero, Maccabi achieved the maximum advantage of the match (71-55). Although Valencia made a couple of attempts to stand up to Víctor Claver, Mumbrú’s team was far from competing as it did against Monaco last week, although without a prize.
The Spanish team added something with Robertson before those from Tel Aviv, well suited to Belgrade although they will really want to play the matches for the ‘Final Four’ at home, secured their solid victory. Valencia will have to wait for the results to help them, with the obligation not to fail against Asvel and Baskonia.
