Nathaniel Brown and Can Uzun stand out at 1. FC Nürnberg. They are already too big for the “club” – and should therefore inspire Eintracht Frankfurt in the coming season.
Sometimes Nuremberg’s new football fortunes surprise themselves. A few people in Franconia and around Franconia have known for some time that Nathaniel Brown and Can Uzun are exceptionally good football players by second division standards. Nevertheless, everyone is still learning in this regard – including Brown and Uzun.
The last chapter in this story took place in Magdeburg. Saturday evening in mid-March, a floodlit game: The “club” was a guest at 1. FC Magdeburg and was clearly inferior to its opponent. Nuremberg suffered until the 79th minute, but by then they had managed to avoid conceding a goal. Then Brown took over. After a pass from central defender Jannes Horn, the left-back started in his own half, accelerated to 35 kilometers per hour, stumbled into the penalty area with the ball at his feet and found Uzun there, who scored the winning goal from the back area. “I don’t know where I got it,” Brown later said of his attack, “but it was cool. Can is a very good friend and I give him an assist. It’s a perfect evening.”
